Volume 2: The Introduction

in·tro·duc·tion

a formal presentation of one person to another, in which each is told the other’s name.

When you introduce yourself, you are introducing a present version- a person whose characteristics, quirks, flaws and outlook have been shaped by the life that has come before that moment.

Your introduction to the world is with wide eyes and an open heart- there are no preconceived notions about life and all that it holds. As a child you see yourself as limitless; you introduce yourself to the mirror full of strength and confidence. Whole. Worthy. Ready.

As you create relationships with others, your reflection becomes defined by the opinions and actions thrown at you. Unreciprocated love, the need for approval, heartbreak. Self doubt.

Unworthy. Unclear. A blurred version of you stares back from the mirror. What’s wrong with me? Why don’t they like me? It’s because of how I look. Why can’t I be good enough?

What’s wrong with me?

You mourn the loss of yourself and all that you were; a reflection that gives you the strength to start moving forward again. To find all of the pieces of yourself.

Whole. Worthy. Ready.
